Digital signage in museums

Digital signage has a myriad of uses within museums, science centers, and cultural institutions from a retail and merchandising perspective.

Exhibition information, membership and fundraising, merchandise, sponsorships, and special programs are all areas of operation that can be information-heavy. With digital signage, information can be layered and presented in such a way to be easily digested by visitors. Since the messages are dynamic, visitors will take the time to watch and absorb the entire message, which means they will be more informed about those areas as well as gallery and facility rules, guidelines, retail offerings, and café specials. Within each of these targeted messages, a retail tie-in can be included.

Message content is easily updated and can be customized to each individual player display or appear on all displays simultaneously. Messages can be scheduled for specific times of day to target a specific audience or group of visitors. Animations, video, and sound can be used for added impact.

Digital signage is also a great tool for welcoming special guests and groups to your facility. Wedding and event planners love the ability to run customized messages for facility rental clients.

The Frist Center for the Visual Arts in Nashville, TN uses FireSign Dynamic Digital Signage to display targeted messages to guests throughout their facility.

Colonial Williamsburg has used FireSign Dynamic Digital Signage to drive messages to sixteen plasma displays in their Visitor Center in Williamsburg, VA. for the last five years.
